Growing Demand for LED Displays for Broadcasting Live Games to Drive Global LED Stadium Screens Market

The rising demand for perimeter LED displays, LED screens, and digital score boards across sports arena and stadiums has propelled the growth of the global LED stadium screens market. Stadiums hosting an audience of more than a thousand viewers require large, high-impact displays to engage the audience, communicate relevant information, and create a unique viewer experience. Stadium managers are increasingly depending on digital signage LED boards to offer a better experience to viewers. The global LED stadium screens market is anticipated to expand at a CAGR of 6.60% during the period between 2015 and 2022. The overall market stood at a valuation of US$1.1 bn in 2014 and is projected to reach US$1.9 bn by the end of 2022.

LED displays provide close-ups and slow-motion replay, thereby offering the audience a better visual treat. Widely used to broadcast live games, LED displays also connect with referee systems to maintain fair play. As the refresh rates of these LED screens are up to 800 MHz, there are no static images shown while broadcasting live games on television. With a high refresh rate frequency, LED stadium screens offer flicker-free video images. However, the high production costs of these LED stadium screens are restricting a majority of stadium managers from installing them. The LED stadium screens are an important medium to achieve revenue through brand advertising and promotional activities. Perimeter LED displays can edit any advertisement on real-time basis. Hence, traditional advertisement displays are being fast replaced with LED stadium screens.

FC Barcelona Rebuilding Camp Nou Stadium with Latest LED Stadium Screens

A large number of the European football clubs are redeveloping their existing grounds, or are moving to newly constructed stadiums. These new stadiums are being equipped with LED screens to offer a better view to the audience. For example, FC Barcelona had floated a tender last year for designing its two new stadiums- Palau Blaugrana and Camp Nou. After selecting a bid from the Japanese firm Nikken Sekkei, the club is expected to start work at Camp Nou in the 2017/18 season. Among other features, the new stadium will have video scoreboards utilizing the latest high resolution digital technology with LED type systems.

Upcoming Olympic 2016 to Drive Demand from Global LED Stadium Screens Market

The 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in August 2016. The different venues for this international multi-sports event are being revamped. Installation of LED stadium screens has been an important part of the reconstruction of these sports venues to offer better a visual display to the audience, ease in broadcasting, and increased visibility of the advertising boards. As a result, the global LED stadium screens market is anticipated to witness a significant growth this year.
