Even as Apple gets into high gear for the China launch of the iPhone6, it is yet to freeze marketing proposals with the three leading telecom carriers in the country. However, contrary to earlier reports, it is now largely believed that the carriers will not cut subsidies for the purchase of Apple’s latest tech toy.
In the past, China Mobile had not succeeded in negotiating with Apple. This time around, the telecom giant will be selling the iPhone6 in competition with China Unicom and China Telecom. The companies expect that the launch of iPhone6 will help them gain a wider user base for their 4G network. This is being seen as the biggest reason for the companies’ likelihood of not cutting subsidies – especially in marketing activities for the iPhone6.
As of yet, neither of the three telecom carriers have taken delivery of any handsets from the iPhone6 series. Their marketing initiatives will only launch after Apple’s official unveiling of the much-awaited smartphone in September 2014.
While Apple has sent out invitation letters to the press for an event scheduled on September 9 in the United States, it is still unclear whether China will be among the first countries to witness the overseas launch of the phone. According to sources from major Chinese telecom carriers, Apple is yet to contact them on the matter.
However, China Mobile has launched pre-orders for a smartphone whose brand name or specifications are still under wraps. The company had adopted the same strategy during the launch of the iPhone5.
